Along with the originals of the famous _Saturday Evening Post_ covers, and his works for the Boy Scouts and the US Army and such, was this painting. In real life, it is gripping. Heck, it is more than gripping, and I recall a few people at the exhibition who were overcome by it. As I recall, it is about six feet wide, by four feet tall, and it drags you into its story. I am sure that Rockwell’s painting, published in various forms as it was, especially by someone known to do nice, slice-of-life white Americana pictures, affected Americans who might not otherwise pay attention to news and current events–but this got their attention. Thus I nominate him to this thread. ---
