Witty, insightful, or useful quotes from infamous or reprehensible people:

1. All genuine knowledge originates in direct experience - Mao Zedong
2. There’s only so much you can teach a person until you reach the limits of his capabilities. - Arnold Rothstein
3. You can get much farther with a kind word and a gun than you can with a kind word alone. Al Capone
4. The great masses of the people will more easily fall victims to a big lie than to a small one. - Adolf Hitler
5. To kill the grass you must also remove the root. - Pol Pot
6. It is difficult for me to imagine what personal liberty is enjoyed by an unemployed hungry person. True freedom can only be where there is no exploitation and oppression of one person by another; where there is not unemployment, and where a person is not living in fear of losing his job, his home and his bread. Only in such a society personal and any other freedom can exist for real and not on paper. - Joseph Stalin

9. You can be a king or a street sweeper, but everybody dances with the grim reaper.–Robert Alton Harris

His last words before being executed in the gas chamber at San Quentin, California. Interestingly, they are a misquotation of a line from _Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey_ (“You might be a king or a little street sweeper, but sooner or later you dance with the reaper.”). Harris’s version doesn’t scan quite so well, but I think it makes the point better.
