Inspired by Red Sox-Yankees Brawl, Famous On Field or On Court Fights/Assaults in Sports History 1. Kermit Washington slugging Rudy Tomjanovich on court 2. White Sox batter Robin Ventura charges the mound, Rangers pitcher Nolan Ryan puts him in a headlock 3. Ten Cent Beer Night in Cleveland (I remember Billy Martin and the Rangers charging the field to fight off drunken fans) 4. Charles Martin body slams Jim McMahon. I was listening to an interview on the radio with Ventura after he charged Ryan and the host asked him what he was thinking. Ventura was very self effacing about it and admitted that he wasn’t and it wasn’t a very good idea. Charging the mound was atypical of his usual on-the-field demeanor. ---
