Great World Series moments 1. Bill Mazeroski wins Game 7 with home run against Yankees, 1960 2. Bill Wambsganss unassisted triple play, Game 5 of the 1920 World Series 3. Elmer Smith’s grand-slam homer, the first in World Series history, in the very same game as #2 4. 1956 World Series Game 5–Don Larsen’s World Series perfect game. 5. 1986 Game 6: error at first base allowing the tying run to score 6. Babe Ruth’s called shot - fifth inning, Game 3, 1932 World Series 7. Joe Carter’s game and series winning home run, Game 6, 1993 World Series. 8. 1989 World Series-- Game 3 broadcast of The Loma Prieta earthquake 9. 1948 World Series - the Cleveland Indians’ last World Series win, the first World Series broadcast on a national TV network, and the first World Series appearance by a black pitcher (Satchel Paige, in Game 5, for the Indians) 10. Kirk Gibson’s pinch-hit home run to win Game 1 of the 1988 Series for the Dodgers over the Oakland A’s, made more dramatic by the fact Gibson could barely walk, and would not appear again in that Series 11. Albert Pujols 3-home run game in Game 3 of the 2011 World Series, the fourth time this has been done. It was accomplished twice by Babe Ruth and once by Reggie Jackson. 12. 2004 World Series–After being down three to the New York Yankees in the Playoffs, the Red Sox won four straight to take the championship, and then won another four straight to beat the St. Louis Cardinals and win their first World Series title in 86 years!! 13. Game 6 1975, Carlton Fisk’s walk off Home Run that just stayed fair (btw, are complete games, or 8, for that matter, actually “moments”?) Passing on a new list. ---
