# Balancing tires - benefits?

I thought the same thing myself. I swear I’ve seen those bubble balancers in catalogs. J.C. Whitney for example. Sounds like a lot of work.

About ten years ago my car got into a strange situation where at certain speeds – around 60 mph, fior example – it would start vibrating terribly. Felt like it was shaking itself to pieces. I thought something horrible was wrong with the engine, but it turned out that one of the tire balancing things had falllen off, and rebalancing the tires fixed the problem.

So yes, balancing the tires is important.
