Stupid rumors like this one (and people who pass them on) infuriate me.

Good thing then, that I didn’t just get on the phone with my friends the second I heard this. That would have spread the rumor, and despite my best wishes to find out more about it, I would have done nothing but spread the rumor further. However, I didn’t. Nor did I go to Usenet. Instead, I went to a message board, made largely of smart people who live in other states, unconnected to this event, who could give me some perspective.

It was. I preparing just such a post when I see Misnomer did the job for me. Thank you. People who cry racism or any other “ism” at the drop of a hat annoy me very much, Scott. I was whacking on them, not you.
