Ban books from the library to "protect" children? Fine. We're banning your children!

Want some extra rage? Read this article by someone who wants to ban a friendly elementary-school reading competition, Battle of the Books:

Her reason for wanting to ban it? One of the books in this year’s competition is called (I’m not making this up) Ban this Book:

and its plot is that a kid is at a school where books are banned, and the kid fights back.

Yes: because Battle of the Books has a book against book-banning, the author wants to ban Battle of the Books.

Which brings me to one of my favorite lines:

(Oh: bonus fun, the author of that article is a school board member).

Typical librah entitlement, thinking kids have a ‘need’ to read. Once we put them back to work in the coal mines, we won’t be hearing any more about this entitled ‘reading’ nonsense.

Outside of a coal mine, a book is a child’s best friend…

Inside a coal mine, it’s a flashlight.

And inside a dog, a child’s best friend is an emetic.

If I were a librarian, I would have made the special Adult-only 18+ area as required and place one and only one book in there - The Bible.

This.

I think the end-game for these morons is the banning of all libraries, full stop. They don’t want ANY people to read. Reading gives you ideas, and ideas are the tool of Satan. They would like people to remain ignorant.

“I love the poorly educated”

As others have posted in other threads, if public libraries were a new idea they’d never get past a draft proposal in today’s political climate. I’m actually surprised we haven’t seen more red districts just shutting them down.

Huh.

I’ve never been able to use a book as a flashlight.

And moreover, it’s yet one more thing those kids are no longer allowed to do without constant adult supervision.

I use the same thing as a book, a flashlight, and various other purposes.

Well duh, books are only good for kindling.

Now I get why it’s called a Kindle!!!
