Second or third generation? Hell, the [Carter Family](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carter_Family)is on its fourth generation now. Glen Campbell has three of his kids performing with him on his farewell tour, most notably his daughter Ashley. ---

How about the reverse? [The Cowsills](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Cowsills) (the basis for the Partridge Family) were already a band before their mother joined (along with two more siblings). I didn’t know that until I read the linked article; I always assumed Barbara Cowsill was a member from the beginning. ---

Dhani Harrison finished his father George’s final album after his death. Meat Loaf’s stepdaughter, Pearl Aday (her biological dad was Janis Joplin’s drummer), is his opening act on tour, and occassionally joins him onstage during the encore. (His son-in-law, Anthrax’s Scott Ian, also plays in Pearl’s band.) And then there’s LMFAO, which is an uncle-and-nephew duo (who are also the son and grandson, respectively, of Motown founder Berry Gordy). ---

Since some have mentioned Frank Zappa, note that Moon Unit performed on the song “Valley Girl.” I think that Shiela E often performed with her dad, Pete Escovedo. ---

I consider the winner to be a person whose name I do not know. I remember in 1975 I went to a Grateful Dead concert and the backup singer was very obviously late term pregnant. So somewhere out there is some 36 year old who can say, “Dude, I toured with the Dead before I was born!. Yep, right there on stage with the whole troupe.” ---

Her son Zion was born in 1974, and his father was their then-keyboardist Keith Godchaux.
