I really don’t see how they could have been better or cooler.
S’all good, Hal…if I went around apologizing to people for thinking their favorite band sucked, I’d never get anything else done! That said, I can’t let it stand uncommented. If it’s rockier rock you want, try Roland’s solo album, specifically the tracks “Ticket to the World” and “Dandelion”.
When I first heard the name Sigur Ros, my original thought was “Nordic death metal”, not “Icelandic background music”. I was pleased to find out I was wrong, but I have to feel for any metal fans who thought the same way I did. Just imagine expecting Hellhammer and winding up with Yanni.
Also, music by anyone called Tower of Power needs to be a lot more hard-hitting than that.
AC/DC were a glam rock band originally and so chose an appropriately androgynous name. Doesn’t really suit their heavy rock schtick though, does it.
Hellhammer is definitely not as awesome as their name. I realize that they were pretty cutting edge at the time, but they just haven’t aged well.
