Two band names I remember hearing about about 10 years ago: Velvet Elvis Throbbing Gristle I used to listen to X - always thought that was a pretty cool name for a band. But I’d have to say, if I were a musician and starting a band (especially a metal/punk band), I’d steal the name Kuru. Friend of a friend who was a doctor played in a punk band for a while used the name for his group. ---

There’s a little band rolling around L.A. called **Flogging Molly**. Considering my best friend’s name is Molly, I get a kick out of seeing that in the paper now and again. As I was in high school/college, I had several friends in bands, few of which had interesting names: \*\*Bedlam The Dancing Janitors Joker Pickle Reaction Quaker Oats Men Projectile Vomit The Sideshow Bobs Suburban Rythym Method \*\* I always thought if I ever had a band, I’d call it **mudlucious**. ---

When I make my band it will be called… (Which will be formed just as soon as my friend learns those pesky drums 🙂 ) Makeshift My friend likes “Grooved Pavement” 😛 In High School I wanted to form… Rubber (Get it… we’d be the Rubber Band.) For awhile I was all about “Total Darkness”. My favorite bad band name-- I read in the newspaper up here once… “Full Throttle Aristotle” Screeme ---

Free Beer. Print that in the paper and you’re guaranteed crowds. Just make sure there’s a cover since many will hate you and walk out in disgust. Also, if you opened for Barenaked Ladies, you’d have an even bigger crowd. ---

Real bands started by my friends (I was never coordinated enough to play an instrument): **The So-Called** **10,000 HamsterPower** **20-Watt Shed** –named in honor of the diminutive amp they used at their first gig [useless trivia] In high school, Chevy Chase (of _SNL_ and _Vacation_ fame) was in what he called “a bad blues band”. That band later became famous as Steely Dan…without Chevy. [/trivia] ---

Maybe it has been used by a band already–but I have always thought that “The Four Skins” would be a good band name. ---

Yep, the Fourskins was a UK punk band and also the name Motley Crue used when they did secret gigs a while back. Funny (real) band names I always liked: The Eves of Destruction Alcoholiday Hellacopters REO Speedealer Cat Butt ---

Just remembered as soon as I hit the submit button that a friend (formerly of the aforementioned Eves of Destruction) has just formed a Metal band and they were trying to come up with a name. I suggested going with a classic Atari theme (Yeah, I know there’s already an Atari Teenage Riot) for their name and songs. They could call themselves something like Major Havoc or Tempest. ‘Breakout’ and ‘Defender’ are good all-around cheesy titles. ‘Star Raiders’, ‘Missile Command’ and ‘Battlezone’ could be for the obligatory war-related songs. ‘Quest for the Rings’ and ‘Castle Wolfenstein’ would work for their big Power Metal concept album. ‘Pole Position’ ‘Home Run’ and ‘Night Driver’ could be for the raunchy stuff. ‘Pitfall’ and ‘Kaboom!’ could be about _wince_ Love Gone Bad, or uh, something. 😉 Anyway, we went on about it for quite some time and it got way silly, sort of like this post has become! ---

This one came to me out of the blue a few months ago: The Angry Tortoises. However when my friend and I formed a band a few weeks ago (expect our major label debut any day now) we opted for Parallel Crossroads. It’s got that kinda ‘makes ya think’ feeling to it. ---
