OP: you specified bands/groups. Did you mean to exclude solo artists? A band can be past its expiration date because of the loss of key personnel, which doesn’t apply to solo artists. But other reasons (e.g. their voice or chops or energy level have gone to shit, they don’t have anything new to say, you’re just tired of them) could apply equally. ---

Is Foreigner still around? Last I heard, it was only Mick Jones left from the original group and one NYE, he couldn’t make a gig, so they had a hired gun on lead guitar, so no original members. They need to go. ---

The Beach Boys. A bunch of 70 year olds who don’t even surf. Yeah, they got back together for their 50th anniversary, but Mike Love and Brian Wilson aren’t having anything to do with each other since then. Hey, Mike, you may own the rights to the band’s name, but it ain’t the Beach Boys without Brian, too. Also the Monkees. Davy’s dead and Mike’s retired. Micky and Peter can tour as Dolenz and Tork, or however they wanna bill themselves, but still calling themselves the Monkees is pretty meaningless. ---

There are many artists I once liked who are well past their peak. Some draw a fraction of the fans they used to get, and some don’t sound good any more. But as I always ask: if these acts still have fun performing and if there are still people willing to buy concert tickets, why SHOULD they quit? ---

I don’t know if you consider Bob Dylan a group or not, but even though I’m a huge fan, and he’s a Nobel Laureate and all, his voice when performing live can only be described as _ruined_. I saw him a couple of years ago, and he sang 3 of his classics that I love, know by heart, and was prepared to hear, and I didn’t even recognize the damn things until he was more than halfway through them, or even the next day when I checked the setlist. ---

Weezer Wu-tang clan Red Hot Chili Peppers I also feel like bands that nobody really cares about anymore should reunite, like the Gin Blossoms and Jane’s Addiction. Though Jane’s were popular when they first reunited, I feel like no one gives a shit about them anymore. ---

Boston should retire. Brad Delp is dead, Tom Scholz takes too damn long between albums, and the last few have all sucked. Their last one sold maybe 18,000 copies. I don’t know if there’s a category for that, but if there is, it should be cardboard. At the rate at which Scholtz works in the studio, their next album should drop in around 2024. ---

Bob Dylan should not tour. His live shows suck ass. If he wants to do studio recordings, fine. Just don’t go on tour, it’s obvious that he doesn’t give two shits about the quality of the show.
