My first thought on reading the thread title was a name literally sounding like the sound they make, like Wang Chung. There must be a few more onomatopoeic Wang Chungs out there. ---

I like the fact that people who are unfamiliar with bands are guessing, although it’s also showing that it’s not always so clear. Along those lines, I think Tangerine Dream is a possible example, but not a lock. ---

Rammstein The name combines the German for “battering ram” (literally “ramming stone”) and the name of the Ramstein air force base where the famous airshow disaster took place.
