I read in the Letters to the Editor in the current issue of Computer Currents that there is a way to kill those @$%&\*! banner ads and popup windows. (Sound like a message to the Finder, don’t it?) I hope this helps, everyone. Get something like _Ads Off_. Not only does it stop the banners and popups from loading, it makes your browser ignore the code for them. Really speeds up your connection! -David ---

I agree, ADSOFF works really well. You can even adjust its “sensitivity” to banners and pop-up windows. (There are some pages that are unable to load if you adopt a scorched earth policy to advertising.) My java has never ever worked no matter what I fix, so I gave up.But I still get banner ads. ---

You used to be able to get AdsOff at the developer’s web site ([www.intercantech.com](http://www.intercantech.com)), but it looks like they are redesigning the site right now. The version that I downloaded a couple years back is about 1.5 MB. ## There is another filtering package I found called InterMute. You can download a fully functional demo that works for 14 days at the developer’s web site ([www.intermute.com](http://www.intermute.com)). Registering the copy will set you back about $20 (US). Does it really work on NetZero? I know their software would check something like that, also NZ uses a 30 minute resume button. There are ways to close the NZ banners but Im not getting into that.
