Barack Obama is the president of the United States!

A liberal would say that.

What’s more, Virginia, which held the capital of the Confederacy, a ‘nation’ built on racism, voted for a black man to be President.

YES, I’m still thrilled and incredulous. Besides being deeply grateful that Barack Obama, excuse me, Barack Hussein Obama, is my President, and Michelle Obama is my First Lady, I love that these kids and their wonderfully wacky leggings are in the White House, giving inspiration to a generation of children. I love the fact that this adorable photo took place in my country’s Oval Office. Every day brings something new and amazing, ranging from interesting policy decisions to surprises (such as the NOBEL, which he absolutely deserved) to great pictures to great speeches and so many more things. The mainstream media doesn’t show/tell 99% of what President Obama says and does, let alone the First Family, so most people are int he dark about his accomplishments and efforts. He’s so busy it’s hard to keep up. Michelle is so busy it’s hard to keep up. But I like to try, because they’re worth it.

Gays will get equal rights. They will, and soon. Not soon enough for some (not even me, who thinks they should have gotten equal rights decades ago) but it will happen, and long before President Obama’s first term is over. Some states will still hold out for bigotry and hatred, might have to wait a decade or so for the more backwards ones, but otherwise, for the most part, you’ll get the rights you deserve. Just you wait and see. Waiting’s hard, I know, but it will happen, and the chance of it happening under this president is 100% greater than it happening under the alternative.

I actually thought this thread was going to be a rant about how certain new outlets keep referring to him as just Obama, instead of as President Obama. In other words, not affording him the same respect as other presidents.

Apparently an MPSIMS-style thread about this isn’t possible.

If anyone wants to start yet another discussion about whether or not Obama should have been elected, why he was elected, or how he’s doing since being elected, weigh your own passion and decide whether GD or the Pit would be the better venue.

To jump all over my shit for how I handled this thread, start a thread in ATMB.
