Even so, I have a hard time believing that Mattel would make a collectible Ken doll that is effectively parodying itself and playing right into very gender stereotypes Barbie and kin have been accused of promoting. There is a whole subculture of people who do Barbie adaptations as kind of an art form, this has to be coming out of that. ---

While I’d like to believe this is some sort of third party adaptation, this would be in flagrant violation of Mattel trademarks and copyrights, so it seems to me this wouldn’t be posted as “coming soon” on a large collector’s store if it wasn’t either officially from Mattel, or officially licensed from them. It would get shut down by Mattel pretty quickly, since this is a US site within easy reach, and you can bet top dollar that Mattel vigorously defends its properties. ---
