[/QUOTE] You guys really didn’t even deserve Thursday and Friday night’s win, and Manny’s hot (as is Matt Kemp). I smell trouble for the D-Backs. Not that I think Manny is going to be on fire quite like this for the remainder of the season, but he has certainly had an impact on the club’s outlook, and I expect the offense in general will pick it up. ---

The schedule is in the D-backs favor for the next few series. The Pirates, Braves, Rockies, Astros, and Padres are up next. The Dodgers have the Cardinals, Giants, Phillies, Brewers, and the Rockies. I know which teams I’d rather face! ---

Just to add a sad note: Skip Caray, long time announcer for the Braves and son of Harry Caray of course died last night in his sleep at age 68. He was a Braves broadcaster since 1976 and his sons Chip and Josh are both announcers too. ---

It’s crazy to see that these people that were the voices of their respective generations are now passing on. I’m amazed that Bob Shepard is still going honestly. ---

[/QUOTE] He was much better than his father, and I remember his voice fondly from the times I watched the Braves playing on TBS. His son, Chip, is a very good announcer; the Cubs were badly served by the disagreement that arose between them and Chip that resulted in Chip heading to the Braves. RIP, Skip. ---

Sad news indeed. RIP Skip. There are those of us in Dodger Nation who are very frightened to think about the day when Vin Scully is no longer among us. It was disturbing when he started cutting back his schedule last season to only do West Coast games, but you can hardly blame him. The man’s 80. ---

At least I actually _like_ the other Dodger announcers. When Chick Hearn died, I stopped listening to Laker games because I couldn’t stand anyone else they hired. ---

An interesting thing to watch is A’s rookie Brad Zeigler. He’s now pitched 34 innings. He’s given up exactly zero runs. That is a major league record for the best start to a career, as you might have guessed. ---

The D-backs are doing exactly what they need to do during their easier schedule: Win! They can put some games between them and the Dodgers and be able to have some breathing room going into September. ---
