That was my first reaction to it, but then cataloguing how Superman and Batman had changed from Bill’s view of them, I realised - even for Silver Age Superman, it’s a lousy description. It posits a contempt for and hatred of humanity that Superman has never demonstrated. It also ignores the influence of the Kents, and how the Clark Kent persona actually worked, both in Smallville and Metropolis - but those are lesser points, and possible to miss.
