You’re blaming the movie for something that is true of every heroic war movie. And in this case this movie represents perhaps one of the least guilty of the genre. The comments are frankly way out of line with reality, hence the pointed opposition.
I was explaining what I didn’t like about the movie. I didn’t once suggest that it shouldn’t have been in the movie, just that I don’t enjoy watching it.
The annoying as fuck shaky-cam shouldn’t have been in the movie, and I probably would have watched it without complaint if it was shot properly.
You said “Gung-ho American bullshit” and that it made you angry. Let’s not pretend you gave some nuanced critique. Considering the lack of rah-rah flag waving going on in this film it reads more like you just wanted to do some America bashing for the sake of it.
Oh, is that what’s going on? I worded my post wrong?
It was the shaky cam that made me angry. The Gung-ho american stuff I dismissed as bullshit. They were meant as separate comments. I should’ve said:
[QUOTE=What I Should Have Said]
The shaky cam gave me a headache and made me angry. Then there was all this gung ho American bullshit. I turned it off after twenty minutes.

The one thing I thought was totally realistic was when the aliens first attacked, the look of WTF on everyone’s face (particularly the LT and the Sargent) were exactly what I would expect from a fighting man when faced with something this far from their training.
