About 12 years ago, Newport Richie, FL had a place called, “Knockers”, that was basically a copy of Hooters. I don’t know if it’s still there. ---

They’re not as PC in they’re hiring practices yet and the food is definitely better. Plus their uniforms are black, which is not as obnoxious as the orange used at Hooters. Unfortunately the beer at both places kind of sucks. Crawford Ker, who used to play for the Cowboys, IIRC, is the guy who started Winghouse. There are a lot of them near me. The original Hooters in on US 60 (Gulf to Bay Blvd) in Clearwater; the original Winghouse is on Ulmerton Road (SR 586(?)) in Clearwater/Largo. They’re about 3-5 miles from one another. ---

You know what’s really sad? From here, the closest Hooters is in Salt Lake City, Utah. Of course, they don’t mind Hooters in SLC because all the waitresses are married to the manager. ---

Fortunately for me, there is a Hooters just a couple of miles from my house. I am a regular at the Hooters on Largo Drive in Nashville. I go there at least once a week, and I don’t even drink! I just like the opportunity to interact (or at least stare at!) with the girls and have the chocolate cake! Hooray for mammary glands! ---

It’s called “WingHouse” for a simple reason. Try telling your wife you’re going to “Hooters,” and she’ll roll her eyes and you’ll hear about it later. Tell your wife you’re going to “WingHouse,” she’ll think nothing of it. Tell your wife you’re off to “Joe’s House of Bad Wings Which are Just an Excuse to Look at Tits,” now, I’m no marriage counselor, but I see an announcement like that ending up in an argument. ---

The locations on Hillsborough Avenue are closest to my place. My work is also very close to the new Mugs n’ Jugs on Missouri in Clearwater, but I’ve never been able to get past the name to go there. Side note: My daughter, who has never, to my knowledge, been in either place, was naming all of the restaurants she knew. Both Hooter’s and WingHouse were on her list. She’s eight years old. I think if you’re from this area you think of them more as restaurants than softcore strip clubs. In Cincinnati it was about the opposite. ---
