The pencilneck comment was a snide attack on another poster. The thread was probably closed to keep that discussion from spilling over into your thread.
The threads that I close becuase they are boring are usually when we have a troll invasion and some obvious sock puppet decided to open up his sixth consecutive “UncleBeer is a jerk” thread. So yeah, I do think that’s boring enough to close.
You have a link? Because I don’t ever recall closing a thread because a thread wasn’t viscious enough.
Your post sounds more like a problem you have with my moderating ability, rather than a contribution to the OP.
But you have reminded me of another reason we have the Pit. It is a place to discuss any issue with the way we moderators do our job. If you have any further criticisms of my moderating, take them to the Pit. That’s where they belong.
Apparently, you missed the Gun Control thread that was raging very hot and heavy in the Pit for a while. I suggest you go take a look every now and then… there’s quite a bit being discussed (usually with a less-than-casual tone, however).
The Pit is what got me posting here. On an anti-French thread, I believe. Most other boards have few debates because they tend to turn into flame wars. So nothing gets debated. At this board, that’s not a problem, because the mods are good at sending threads to the appropriate forums. I love it.

As a matter of fact, Arnold, I did mean viscous. Due to the intense heat of the Pit, threads are specially formulated for high viscosity to prevent thermal breakdown.

Sometimes The Pit sucks, sometimes it’s the best way to get rid of issues you may have. Those issues can be board related or just stuff that burns your butt outside the boards.

I thought it was an appropriate place to put it, since in MPSIMS people would have held back more, and not been able to speak without editing themselves. As it turns out, only a couple people chose to be too nasty for MPSIMS, and even that is debateable. But at least they had the freedom to roast me, yes?

Taken together with Anthracite’s question, I’d say this is one such link you asked for where a thread is locked for being to mild. (N.B. I don’t personally care what gets locked in the pit. In fact I’m of the school they all are like bagels, and go stale after 2-3 days. Lock all pit threads at that point and it’s no great loss.)

Actually, I think there may have been a mis-understanding, tshirts. I asked for the thread to be closed, and noted in the thread itself that it would be closed after Midnight on Sunday.
My question was simply - was it the appropriate place to post? From the fact it was not closed, moved, and no warnings were issued by the Management, I guess I found the answer myself.

As a member of the Pit Galleria, I think it does right well. I can’t ever say much here, because I’m bad at taking an agressive stand. I just can’t do it with any finesse. But I have often admired my compadres on this board when they dispatch of ignorance with no holds barred.
I suppose it comes with the switch to moderator decorum , but I do miss Alphagene’s razoring right-hooks. Shee-it, he can excise a fetid heart and serve it up still Ka-chunking with nary a drop loss. This ain’t lamenting, nor sucking up, just me own observation.
