We were in town over the weekend, looking at the Cows (and stumbling across the Watermelon Festival on the Common). we didn’t go to Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market, but a notice up at one of the T stations says that the handicapped services are out at Haymarket, which is a bummer. I think the Aquarium is too far away, myself. The best bet might be State, after all, if mobility is a problem. ---

I think Aquarium and State are probably each about the same distance away from Durgin Park. There’s a slight hill and a busy street to cross if you come from State, and there’s a less busy street to cross and more cobblestone to navigate if you come from Aquarium. ---

State has a number of exits, IIRC. One is at the corner of Congress. I’m pretty sure it has an escalator, but you have to go through one of those meat-grinder turnstiles to get out. I hate those. From that exit, you just walk a block or two down Congress, to about the Fleet Center, then turn left and cut through. This will put you between South Market and Fanuil Hall. DP is a three minute walk from there. That’s the best plan I can come up with. Actually, I have one better: Take a cab. If you can park in or near a hotel, getting a cab should be easy, and probably won’t cost much more than $5. ---

The State Street exit you’re thinking of is actually on Devonshire, and they’ve gotten rid of the meat grinder. However, to the best of my knowledge (and I go there everyday), there is \*\*no \*\* exit from State Street that has escalators all the way from platform to the street. You can take an elevator, but if you don’t, any exit will require you to climb some stairs. The Fleet Center is way, \*waaaaaaaay \* past Faneuil Hall if you’re going along Congress Street. I just got told that I am working tomorrow because the only other person who can do certain reports ‘was having a bad day and decided to take a mental health day tomorrow.’ shortly followed by ‘well, we _know_ you have been asking for more overtime because of having to replace your car, so we’ll see you at 9 am’ What part of bubbling for the last 4 days about going to boston could have POSSIBLY been missed … like i had PLANS for my day off. So when I pointed out to the stupid Sta-puffed Marshmallow Boy [our not so fond nickname for the unterboss at work] that I already had plans, and was not available for tomorrow I got told that the bint had seniority [by 2 freaking weeks :mad:] and I didn’t have the option to not work on my day off. Fucking cow. Her ‘bad day’? she broke a fingernail, broke the heel on her shoe and spilled coffee all over her desk killing her keyboard and making IT bring her a new one so she had to have essentially a 3 hour break in the middle of the busiest work day of the week by tripping over the empty copy paper box she claimed to take home and store crap in. I think I may have to take a mental health day next sunday and the office can go fuck themselves. Only one other person [moo] is qualified to work sundays and she has been bragging on how next weekend is her birthday and she has plans for a big sunday brunch. I am going to see if I can slide out in time to make it, but I am not entirely certain how long it will take to drive from East Hartford to Boston. ---

Yikes, horrifying [accident](http://www.boston.com/news/traffic/bigdig/articles/2006/07/11/section_of_ceiling_tumbles_in_tunnel/) in Boston last night. As a result, I didn’t even consider driving in. I will still make it, but need to be at South Station (or Back Bay, whichever is closer) by 8:45 to catch the commuter rail. Drive safely, anyone who is driving. ---

I’ve never tried to get in wearing nothing but a banana hammock, but I think it’s pretty casual. Shorts, sandals, and a tee would probably be fine. A button up or polo shirt would probably be better.
