Woo-hoo, first post-Dopefest post! We had a really great turnout; I think everyone who thought they could make it, did. The waitress at Durgin Park was actually quite nice, and **Telemark** took a couple photos, which I trust he’ll post here soon. For better or worse, the orgy never materialized. ---

Quite fun, indeed. As is usual with that restaurant, the excellent food was outmatched only with the excellent company. The waitress was not surly, but just a bit weird. Durgin-Park waitresses used to have a strong rep as world-class surly. I think it was even expected of them, but these folks were really nice. My only complaint was that the damned fans were turned up so high that conversation was difficult, even with those slosest by. I realize that BNoston is big on tradition, and Durgin-Park’s over a hundred years old, and all, but they put in electric lights. You’d think they could spring for air conditioning, too. A good time was had by all. Afterwards, we cruised Quincy Marketplace for a while and looked at the rest of the cows. MilliCal got obsessed with the Matryushka dolls a cart vendior was selling (one had _nine_ dolls inside, with the last one damned near microscopic). Then we tried to go home on the subway and found it closed, and we had to take a bus back. My thanks to everyone, and I’m sorry I didn’t get to speak to more of you, and at greater length. ---

It\*\* _was_\*\* nice to see everyone. And now that we have pulled it off, we can certainly do it again. I would likely choose a different locale for some of the reasons mentioned. Even though the waitress was nice and not the sneering, roll-throwing ogre of old, I did feel rushed. (Yeah, I know that I was the one who had a commuter rail to catch, but I did have a larger cushion of time than I thought, and next time would arrange a different scenario.) This should not be construed as criticism of your choice, **tdn** , and I surely do thank you for your organizational skills (and the compliment). MilliCal was quite charming and well-behaved. I wouldn’t be surprised if **Robot Arm** was searching the web for some of those books that she was so patiently explaining to him. 😉 I forgot to demand that **Telemark** show me any photos he took of me for the sake of veto power, in case my tragic hair was looking, well, _tragic_. ---

I’ll put the photos up shortly, work has dominated my morning, alas. Nice meeting all of you, putting faces to screen names is always a hoot. 🙂 On the way home there was a guy on the Red Line with a poster about bombs blowing up the WTC and the Pentagon being hit by a missle. He was gone before I could speak up, but I think I managed to fight ignorance among those left in his wake. It seemed awfully appropriate coming home from a Dopefest. ---

Thanks for the photos. In the first one you can see MilliCal’s book that she’s expounding on (one of the _Ghostville Elementary_ books) to **Robot Arm** in the beard on the other side, like **lorene** mentioned. In #2 you’ve got an unflaqttering shot of Pepper Mill in her lavender shirt in the right foreground. MilliCal is immediatelt behind her (to the right and up in the photo) in her flowered shirt. She either has her head turned away, or has inexplicably lost her face (“Damned photographers! Always cutting off people’s heads” – Porklips Now). Behind her is me, with her fist either obscuring my face or punching me in the mouth. The rest of you folks can identify yourselves. ---

In #2, on the left, we see the back of **ElvisL1ves** ’s head. Going to the righ is his wife, **Robot Arm** , **lorene** , and me. The two people in back, **The Weird One** and **ralph124c** , are better seen in picture #3. The person on the other side of the lens is **Telemark**.
