He only put them up when they were not staying at the cabin. When they were at the cabin, he had the dog for an early warning device, and a .375 magnum as a deterrent.

My doggie alarms do get ignored sometimes. They will bark at the deer and moose that we don’t care about.

The .375Mag is quite the cannon. I’ve a somewhat rare Marlin 336er in .356win. The .357 or 30-30 also gets their attention. But then I’m talking Black Bear, Not Grizzly. Whole nother kettle of fish that is.
