When we were back in Arizona getting some furniture, I got a text from the neighbor across the street that a bear had knocked down my Hummingbird feeder. So - that’s the end of that. If I had big trees in the front, I would consider hanging it well off the ground, but I’m not sure that’s a great idea, either. This particular bear wrecked a neighbor’s gate, probably to get at their apple tree in their back yard. ---

Yes, they go mad for fruit of every kind. I’m sorry (but not surprised) that your hummingbird feeder got got! I have half a dozen apple trees, 2 pears and a bunch of berries. I find bear scat all around my place in early spring and late fall when the trees are offering their ripe fruit. There’s plenty of fruit for us all so I don’t mind the bears macking on what I don’t pick. I do keep my non-odorous trash locked up tight and keep a spare freezer just for smelly stuff. And no hummingbird feeders except natural plants. Bears can sure keep things interesting! ---

LOL, those are a nuisance, too! I currently have a particularly annoying chipmunk who is very curious about everything going on in this house. He climbs my screens and drives the dachshund insane. Driving me a little crazy, too… ---

She does longer ones on the weekend. Now a bear is gonna be wary of two 65 lb dogs and their human, but I always make sure she has her bear spray. Don’t leave home without it. We get a lot of black bear and coyote at our vacation house on the edge of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.
