I think the girls at work are not-so-subtley dropping hints about the shaved head though. I just prefer shaving the head with no guard, it makes it easier to catch missed spots. That and it’s much less suffocating in summer. ---

Full beard for, what, 27 years now. Earlier on, I didn’t have the moustache - mine’s uncomfortable because it tries to grow up my nose and tickles. This is stupid - ladies, imagine having your mouth and nose located in your scalp. But the C. Everett Koop look generated too many questions about whether I was in some sort of weird religious group or something, so I gave in to fashion. My reason for growing it is the terrible ingrown-hair acne I get with any method of shaving I’ve tried, including disposable and straight razors, electric shavers, and the depilatory creams they make for black men. I wish there weren’t any fashion statements involved either way. ---

I’ve had a moustache for probably 25 of the last 30 years, generally the bushy Lech Walesa / Wild West look. I’ve generally had jobs which prohibited beards and tolerated moustaches. For 3 years I had a huge fuzzy ZZ-Top beard & matching long hair. When I shaved it off (for a job again) my wife was disappointed; she said she liked it since it hid so much more of my face. :rolleyes: Now I’m clean-shaven and my weekend stubble comes in patchy gray like an old dog’s muzzle, so I’m not sure I’m willing to grow a beard even though the current job allows it. Once I’m old enough to be comfortable with the all-gray look I’ll probably do a neat full-face beard again for the duration. ---

I think some men look good with 'em and boys definitely do NOT. Yuck. A quick survey of friends found that girls my age (young women) prefer BF’s to go without extra bodily hair while I’ve noticed women that are around mid twenties to mid-thirties are indifferent or partial to hairy chests while women who are 30+ find Wolfmen are their version of sex-on-a-stick. I do know a fourteen year old who is about 6 feet tall with thick dark hair on his top lip. He looks like a dork. :rolleyes: ---

Last week Susan said that she thought I’d look good with a closely-cropped beard (not one of Santa Claus proportions), so I’ve been letting it grow in. I still shave my neck and cheeks, but everything else is growing. It, too, is increasingly grey. Much more salt than pepper. \ ---

Male. No beard. Occasional mustache. Used to also sometimes have a goat-tee (sp) Once tried to grow a beard, but my facial hair was too sparse and I looked stupid. ---

I guess I’m the minority here. I dislike facial hair of any kind. I’m not a fan of chest hair either, so I guess it’s no surprise. If my friends or family prefer to grow moustaches/goatees/beards/voluminous chest hair, they’ve got my support. However, I prefer that my SO does not (and luckily for me, he couldn’t grow a beard without a few gallons of Rogaine :)). I said it once in a similar thread a few years back, and I’ll say it again: I think goatees look like pussies.
