Beatles "Let It Be" to be re-released in November

Yeah, it is. It’s AWFUL. If I’d been naming it, I’d have just gone with Get Back (the original title of the project that became Let It Be). Not only a good title, and appropriate, given the parenthetical note above, but pretty appropriate, also, for what this is - the songs are getting back to what they were supposed to be.

I kind of wish they’d release the full version of Dig It from the bootleg. Better than the short version on the album. Long and Winding Road without strings is far superior - I was forced to listen to AM radio the summer it was #1, heard its sappy strings 100 times, and am quite averse to it. It is the only Beatles song I skip on CD.

I’m sure they’ll keep the original in print. After all, you can still get the original version of Yellow Submarine, even though the Yellow Submarine Songtrack CD, which contains superior mixes of all the Beatles material from the original, could easily have replaced it. (I, for one, actually do get the urge to listen to the George Martin half of the original album every once in a great while.)

And I also think that, far from removing “Dig It,” they should have included the full-length take. IIRC, it went on for something like 12 minutes in the studio.

“Oh Dirty Maggie Mae. They have taken her away.”

How ironic that that they actually have now taken her away.

I despise “The Long and Winding Road” on Let it Be–and I think it’s a wonderful song. I usually listen to Paul’s live version on Wings Over America–it’s sooooo much better without the schmaltz (women’s chorus–ewwww).

I can’t WAIT for this.

And I’ll miss “Maggie Mae.” Oh well. And I’m with Tengu: they should just call it Get Back.

am I the only person who truly despises the Beatles? i wouldnt even use this album as a coaster. the most overrated band ever.

and i’m not paticularly out to bait people here, i just dont see the attraction.

here come the ‘without the Beatles, there’d be no_______’ etc replies…

plus paul mccartney truly offends me with his supersmug face.

No, you aren’t the only person who “truly despises” the Beatles. The ones who do, however, have enough class NOT to post in, what is obviously, a thread for those who do like them.

Weren’t they going to release some of those tracks from the tapes that were recently recovered from some robber?

I heard there were several songs that hadn’t been released in those tapes.

The authorities have recovered at least two stashes of material. Some from the Let It Be sessions and some, IIRC, were from the White Album sessions.

It’s possible this would appear later. I doubt I’ll live to see it all released.

I’ve heard quite a lot of Beatle bootlegs over the years and have a friend who has a huge collection. I’m sure that whatever is gonna appear on LIB…N is there somewhere.
