Y’all know I’m T1 diabetic. Y’all know I pour over all the food threads and posts. It’s ‘food porn’ to me. I obsess over particular food items. I have strange food fetishes. I think it’s from years if a restricted diet. Or maybe I’m just crazy. hush, I heard that This morning I woke up with a very low glucose reading. Not an alarming low but a happy low. It meant I could carefully have a sweet. Nothing brightens my mornings like dessert for breakfast. Yay! Ooh! I know exactly what I want. A few months ago, my sister from another mister @VOW put a seed in my head about powdered sugar Donettes. I had to find away to eat some. I had my DIL pick some up, the other day. Of course the Grandwrex are wanting these things, as well. In an effort to teach them not to smash-mouth and inhale sweets I set up tea-time that coincides with afternoon snack time. I make weak warm tea. Slice a lemon. And set out fancy tea cups. We light a candle. I show them how to twist the lemon slice over the cup and hang it on the edge of the cup. They each have 2 Donettes. I teach the proper dunking etiquette. At the time I was not able to actually eat a Donette. By the time the dunking is over their tea is sweet and lemony. Then I send them to their Moms. Powder faced, Caffed up and sugared up Grandwrex get on my nerves. It’s the law that Nana’s get to do these things. Back to early this morning. I want to eat Donettes. I figure I can eat two. I’ll try to not get pissed off about only two. I find the bag where I hid it. Get juice. Sit at the table. Yum? Lucky me? Oh goody? Nope, nope, nope. They’re stale. Hard as hockey pucks. I’m very sad, sad, sad. Why would Hostess cupcake peeps put these nice Donettes in a bag that doesn’t really seal? Dammit. Ziplock technology has been around for decades. A strongly worded email is already sent. I mean it!! I have to stop and make an admission here. Beware it’s kinda gross. I licked the powdered hockey pucks. My glucose levelled right up to my normal. Still wish I could a bit one. 😟 ---

What the heck were you thinking. Why would you ever eat a powdered sugar Donette! They make chocolate covered chocolate Donettes. ---

That’s not sad; it’s tragic! Nothing’s worse than being able to finally fulfill a craving only to get foiled at the last minute. Well, OK, some things are worse, but they’re depressing, so we won’t go into them right now. You know you can revitalize donuts in the microwave, right? (Works best with a small paper bag.) But then, of course, all the powdery sugary goodness melts into a glaze. When you get some more, put them in a ziplock bag and freeze them so you can thaw and eat when you get a happy glucose reading again. ---

Slice 'em in half and toast them on a toaster tray, then put a bit of butter on the insides. (This is assuming cake and not raised doughnuts.) ---

I really depressed now. Son-of-a-wrek just told me about these doughnuts someone brings to his job some days. He says they’re full-sized powdered doughnuts with rasberry filling. Oh, god. I want those. ---

Yeah, the chocolate one maybe don’t get stale, maybe, but that’s because the glaze is made out of wax or something. Powdered is the way to go. Beck you have my sympathies, and ya did the rite thing, a terrible and tragic as it was. You ever eat Graham crackers with butter on them? Nothing else, just butter, and not margarine either, real, made from moo juice harvested from real moo berries butter? ---
