So I’ve removed the harnesses from the laundry room. One has a couple of missing ‘diamonds’. That kinda peeves me. I put them on the cat tree. They seem to have caught the attention of two frisky felines. They are pacing around on the floor below the tree. No howling, yet. Think I’ll put some treats up there and see what happens. Stay tuned. ---

Yeah, they are pretty pissed at the moment. I got their vittles ready. At this time we are addicted to a salmon pate can of stuff and I stir in alittle kibble and serve it upon two flat dishes. (They won’t eat out of bowls). While they were eating I opened the doors and sat out there with the dogs. Trying to seem unconcerned. Again they came to the doorway and bathed. I had a leash in my hand. Bear took 2 tentative steps out and sat. Looking pleased with himself. I went over and looped the leash around his neck and just stood there. Bear was, to say the least, unhappy and undecided what to do. I took it off before he erupted. He ran back in. At this minute he’s sitting on the stairs trying to clean all the leash germs off his neck. Meeko is siding with him. ---

From experience transitioning strictly indoor cats to outside with harness and leash, ditch the blingy harnesses, don’t want the preciousness to choke, conscript hubby to help (trust me it requires a team effort, I’ll tell the story sometime). Don’t be fooled or swayed by threats or protestations of the end of the world, the cats will adapt quickly. Have deat Hubby hold a cat, put the harness on and adjust to fit very snug both front and back, release cat let it get used to it a few days before adding the leash ---

1st. Dear hubby ain’t getting involved. 2nd These slinky, slimy cats can’t be held easily. The sound would deafen you, alone. 3rd the harnesses are fitted non-adjustable. They have an elastic strap around the chest. 4th I don’t want the lifelong grudge they’ll hold against me. This morning Bear walked all the way out the doors onto the deck. Sniffed around. Meeko stayed by the door howling at him to come back. She was decidedly distressed at him for being so brave. He flew back in the door when a dragonfly came too close. They are chickens. I have a new understanding of the precious snowflakes. ---

I will admit I’ve never had to train a siamese though. The only time I had one of those, she was a siamese/manx blend. Never made a sound until she got knocked up, then the only time she shut up was when she was sleeping.
