Enough with the music, let’s have a beer. Yes, it’s Beer Madness. Same rules as the others. The beers chosen were based on the best selling beers in the U.S. If you favorite isn’t listed, you didn’t buy enough for it to be a best seller. I debated whether to combine all brands and have a free for all tourney or break them down into specific categories. I decided to use categories, Best Sellers, Bargain Basement, Imports, and Craft/Microbrews. Ratings for each group were based using a random number generator. Round 1 will run till Thursday, May 1 at 6 am Pacific time. Ladies and Gentlemen, belly up to the bar and make you choices. Best Sellers. 1. Miller Genuine Draft vs. 16 Busch 2. I’m not sure what it says about me that I have tried almost all of these brews… Stegmaier is a microbrew or craft beer? We used to get it for $5 a case in the '80s. Hmm… yeah, I’ve had pretty much all of these. I knew that beer tour at the pub would come in handy some day! Way too many Mexican beers in here, but I guess that’s what gets consumed… Best Sellers. Schmidt 2. Keystone Light 3. Hamm’s 4. Rainier 5. Stroh’s 6. Red Dog 7. Lone Star 8. Killian’s Irish Red Good lord, there was only one halfway decent beer in this catagory. I haven’t even seen most of these since college. Imports 1. Grolsch 2. Modelo 3. Bass Pale Ale 4. Dos Equis 5. Lowenbrau 6. Boddington’s 7. Molson Canadien 8. Guinness Craft/Microbrews 1. Widmer Hefenweizen 2. Shiner Bock 3. Alaskan Pale Ale 4. Blue Moon Belgium White (this one was a hard choice) 5. New Belgium Fat Tire 6. Pyramid Hefenweizen 7. Anchor Steam Ale 8. Deschutes Mirror Pond Ale Yeah, almost none of my favorites were on the list, and then 2 of them go head to head in the first round. Rough game.
