All the boards I hung out on were local. Most of the population was kids under the age of 16. Once people turned 16 and could drive, they wouldn’t BBS anymore because they would go out and have “real lives.” psssh.
A lot of us would meet during marching band season (because being a BBS geek and a band geek went hand-in-hand). When our team played their team, we’d sneak over to the concession stand and walk around like an idiot trying to explain how you want to meet someone but don’t know what they look like…
I think the only real friends I had back then were my BBS friends It was nice because you could hook up with someone and they’d be local, not like now with the 'net and you find the love of your life a whole continent away
Woo hoo! BBSes were the best. Even met some fairly attractive women through them.
My door game was “Forbidden Lands,” which the SysOp had personally modified to be about eight times bigger than the original. Fabulous game.
