# Before their fond farewell, can you tell if your farts will stink?

Inspired by [the public farting thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=465982) and [name your secret talent](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=466937), I have noticed that I can at around 90% accuracy ascertain a priori to emission whether or not my farts will stink. I was wondering if anyone else has this ability, and at what degree of accuracy.

Conditions I use to determine smell:

-temperature  
-Presence or lack of burn  
-consistency (near-sharts are usually atriociously noxious)  
-foods previously ingested

So, how about it?

I can usually tell.

However the surprises are NOT pleasant. I’ll be sure to ingest plenty of Burger King onion rings prior to the next San Diego DopeFest so I can demonstrate…
