Being searched going to jury duty..

Hey, they can take my murder-pics when they pry them from the cold dead fingers of the severed hand I keep as a trophy.

Ha! 2009 me cracks 2012 me right the hell up.

Anyway, edjew, since that time, I’ve learned about NYC’s stop-and-frisk policy, which seems far more unreasonable and exactly what you describe as unreasonable, FWIW. Also, what’s a CPL license?

It’s a license to carry a Concealed Pistol License.

Sounds kinky;)

I saw this happen at the Old Bailey (court room for the most serious criminal cases in England) once. I was going to watch a famous trial as I was in the area and bored.

The security staff just chuckled and threw away the small bit of hash they found in a girl’s purse. I don’t know if the lack of further action is because they took it from a group who I THINK were law students and so were more lax, or whether they would be that lenient on everyone.

At the Old Bailey there is a separate entrance for gallery members by the way so the staff would have known they weren’t criminals.

That might be what’s happening on that Vogue cover.

I’ll have to check that out when I am not in class,

That line of reasoning is totally bogus. We have the right to travel freely about the country, using whatever means of transportation we so desire. Exercising that right does NOT abrogate our 4th Amendment protection. No legislation passed by Congress can cause that to happen under any circumstances.

The simple fact is that every search performed at an airport in the USA is illegal and unconstitutional. The sad reality is that we can’t get it stopped because the courts turn a blind eye to it, using bogus reasoning like you stated.

I think exactly the opposite. If they tell you in advance they’re going to search you, wouldn’t you be less likely to be carrying contraband? So therefor the search would be less reasonable than one with no advance warning.

Now a clever man would put contraband into his own goblet, er, briefcase, knowing that another lawyer would switch briefcases, so clearly you’re not going to do that.

But, perhaps you think that’s what the OTHER lawyer thinks you’ll do, so you will put the contraband in his briefcase first, knowing you’ll end up with it because it will be switched…

Er…

Its not unreasonable to search you, OP

I understand this since I’ve been in law school during the three years since I posted the OP..

As Rick Perry would say: Oops
