There actually isn’t a bird called the “African swallow”. There are over 20 species of swallow that live in Africa, ranging in weight from about 20 g to 100 g (all less than the “5 ounce bird” you may have heard about). Let’s be generous and say a 100 g swallow could carry 50 g. An adult cow weighs about 630 kg, so we need about 12,000 swallows to carry a cow. Not clear how they’d grip it, since it doesn’t have a husk. ---
