Is the triangle gone yet?

It was never there in the first place. Serious studies have shown no higher rate of ship/place disappearances there than any similar geographic location.

See Lawrence David Kusche’s book **The Bermuda Triangle Mystery – Solved**. I think it’s currently in press by Prometheus Books, but it was first published back in the mid-1970s. Sometimes it takes the Word a while to get out.

Yours is a perfect example of a “loaded question.”

Anyway, for the Straight Dope, see Cecil’s column [Has anyone vanished in the Bermuda Triangle lately?](http://www.straightdope.com/classics/a3_067.html)

The Outer Banks of North Carolina probably have more wrecks than the “Triangle” can claim. This [**site**](http://www.globetrekkertv.co.uk/destination_guide/north_america/deep_south_usa/wreck_diving_north_carolina.php) says over 1000, but I heard it was over 2000. Nothing spooky about this, just a treacherous area to sail in.
