[Round 1](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=613207) and now we move on to Round 2. The top 16 were split into two brackets. The first bracket covers 1991-1998 and this bracket covers 1999-2010. This was done to put eight movies in each bracket. Choose one movie in each bracket as the Best Action Movie to move on to Round 3. The top two votegetters in each bracket will move on. The poll will close on Tuesday around 3:30. This one’s a lot harder for me to vote in than the other bracket. On one hand, I think the Matrix was the better movie, but on the other hand, 300 was the better action movie, which is what the poll’s about Both were revolutionary, though the Matrix a lot more so. In the end, I had to give to the one with more action and more action movie qualities. Go 300! ---

It’s easy to forget just how jaw dropping The Matrix was when it first came out. I don’t think this is even close. ---

I would think it’s simply the best movie that falls in the action genre. And even if that weren’t the case, I’d still argue Matrix has better action than 300, though primarily because I detest 300. ---

Oops. Meant to vote for _The Matrix_, but hit _The Bourne Identity_ instead ( which come to think of it was probably a runner-up ). So flip one vote from those respective categories. ---

I found myself giving a surprising amount of consideration to _Pirates of the Caribbean_, but in the end _The Matrix_ won out. I know a lot of people don’t care for the illogic of the basic premise, but if one can get past that, it’s brilliantly structured, acted and filmed. I will say that had _Inception_ made the cut, I would have had a tough time choosing. ---

I think a big part of what makes a film great is that it ages well. The Matrix didn’t do so well in that score for me. I ended up voting for _Iron Man_ really because it was the most fun. The _Bourne Identity_ was very close. ---

_Iron Man_ for me, but _POTC_ and _Casino Royale_ are tied for a very close second. All very, very good and enjoyable flicks. ---

I have never liked _The Matrix_. I still can’t fathom its overwhelming popularity. I also didn’t think _Iron Man_ was anything very special whatsoever. _Spider-Man_ and _X-Men_ were way better superhero films. In terms of action superiority, I’d say _Bourne Identity_, but as an overall better entertainment experience, I pick _Pirates of the Caribbean_. ---

I loved Iron Man, but The Matrix won my vote. The scene where Trinity and Neo go in to rescue Morpheus is just pure Action Movie. It even has an exploding helicopter. ---

This one has a lot more good titles than the 90s one. I went back and forth on _The Matrix_ vs. _Pirates_, but ultimately went with _Pirates_. And I’d say that _The Dark Knight_ was overall better than either as a movie, but the things that make it great are mostly independent of the fact that it’s an action movie. ---

I can watch the action scenes from The Matrix and Kill Bill 1 over and over again without getting tired of them. So it’s a toss-up. ---
