Best? Hershey bar with almonds. Exactly the right size and an almond in every bite of delicious chocolate. I have never measured to see if each almond is placed exactly the same in every bar but I suspect that they are. A perfect ending to any meal. Worst? Clark Bar. A thin layer of tasteless darker chocolate surrounding a tooth bustin log of some kind. When you bite into it the log sorta splinters in your mouth and later freezes onto your molars as it finally succumbs to the moisture and crunching. Just my opinion. ---

When I was a kid I liked Peter-Paul (I think) “Caravelle” bars, frozen. These were milk chocolate over rice crispies and caramel. I think the closest modern candy is Nestle’s “100,000 Bar”, but it’s just not the same. I like Hershey’s Almond Bars with peanut butter on them. A plain dark chocolate bar is good too. But the best candy IMO are the cocoa almonds from Trader Joe’s. These are almonds covered in chocolate, then rolled in cocoa. The bitterness of the cocoa, the sweetness of the chocolate, and the crunch almond inside… for only about $4/pound! Mmmmmm! ---

It was tough narrowing it down to one favorite bar. I’m such a candy slut. I’d have to say my favorite is the Heath bar. I bite part off but don’t chew until that chocolate coating melts away. Mmmmmm. Then I still have that nutty-buttery-jam-my-heart-until-I-die toffee stuff to much on. MMMMMMMMMMM, Heathhhhhh. The worst? Kendall Mint-Cake. (Does that qualify as a candy bar? I used to take it on hiking and climbing trips.) Jesus _Palomino_, that stuff’s sickening. The only candy that could be worse than Kendall’s is something with “ChickenGravyLicious” in the name. ---

Best chocolate bar? Partial to Cadbury’s Crunchie and frozen Zero bars. Worst chocolate bar? Don’t care for Big Turk’s Turkish Delight or Glosette’s raisins. Is Kendal Mint Cake a candy bar? ---

Not much of a candybar buff these days, the 100 grand bar always satisfies though. The worst, well, it isn´t exactly a candybar, but it´s chocolate. I once had a couple of sips of “Chocolate Beer”, I kid you not. God damn, that´s some repuvnant shit; to quote the man. — G. Raven ---

When I was a kid sub, (OK, maybe it wasn’t that long ago, but and Indie says “It’s not the age, it’s the milage.”)[/sub], for the longest time I liked Whatchamacallit, and then I discovered Skor. I’m gonna have to find one of those again. I haven’t actually eaten a candy bar in years, but this thread is making me want a Skor, dang it! ---

Heath Bars are my favorite! “Winter” Clark bars are even worse than the chocolate coated kind. The white confectionary coating has a vaguely greasy aftertaste. The rigid, unyielding substance inside is just plain evil. Evil shrouded in a mantle of white… ---

I’ve read they include–urp!–_garlic ice cream_. Nope, never tried it. ---

Way cool **Johnny**! You remember the Caravelle Bar. I opened this thread to specifically mention it. That’s because the rest of Peter Paul’s candy bar line was hideous. Mounds; as in the great Chinese leader ‘Mounds of Dung’! Almond Joy; Yeah, the almond was the joy in the whole candy bar. As you can tell I can only eat freash coconut. As to the absolute best candy bar, it used to be Maribou Swedish milk chocolate until Hershey’s bought them. Now, it’s a frozen U-NO bar. East coasters may not have seen these as they are produced in the SF Bay Area by Annabelle. ---

Best = Twix. I like to take a bite then suck off all the chocolate and carmel to leave the crunchy cookie. Worst = Those new BigKat bars. It’s like a brick covered with a half inch of low-grade chocolate. Not tasty. ---

Well, if we are talking domestic chocolate, Heath bars all the way. I’m with **OrcaChow** on that buttery center. Skor are just as good, IMHO. If we are including imported chocolate, just about any German or Swiss halbitter mit haselnusse will do. Worst? I agree with **Soup-Nazi** about KitKats. I buy them for Halloween, because I know I won’t be tempted. ---

I miss, terribly, the Lindt Excellence (70% cocoa!) 50g bars that were sold in the corner store below where I worked last year. A bank-breaker at 49p (about 67 cents) but worth it. How can anything else compare with it? ---

I find Twix (regular, not peanut butter) too sweet, so I hate those. Marathon bars are just all wrong–the carmel is not the right texture to be covered with chocolate in that particular braided shape. My favorite changes all the time. I do love the Willy Wonka peanut butter candy bar, whatever its formal name was. Have any of you seen Groovy Candies? It’s a gift box thingamabob. It used to be called Hard To Find Candies From the Sixties, but they changed its moniker. Anyway, for like $30 or so you can send someone (or yourself) a whole box of candies that aren’t as common anymore. Stuff like Clove gum, pumpkin seeds, wax pop bottles, candy cigarettes, various kinds of chocolates and other stuff. It is good for some good reminiscing, especially if you take it in to work or to a party. And you don’t have to have been a kid in the sixties to find yourself wandering down memory lane–I was still in diapers then. No, I don’t work for the guy who founded it. He’s just some dude that started this because he was a candy nut. I’ve given a few of these boxes, with rave reviews. I’d post a link, but aren’t commercial links verboten? Well, I’m sure you can figure out the URL–it’s an obvious one. ---
