Among the many band name threads I have seen (and I started a thread myself about a year ago), I thought the best of the bunch was **The Don Knotts Experience** OR **The Don Knotts Overdirve** For those Dopers who wanted to start a band, I’d be happy to be the guitarist in the Don Knotts Experience. I suppose we would have to get permission from Mr Knotts about using his name, though. ---

There was a great British rock band fronted by a guy called Alex Harvey, called The Sensational Alex Harvey Band. Then Alex had an accident and was in traction for a year so the other four members of the band recorded an album without him, and this was \*officially \* credited to **The Sensational Alex Harvey Band Without Alex**. I’ve always thought this was unique and wonderful and glorious in some indefinable way, and my favourite band name ever. Oh, and just for one extra brownie point for cuteness, they called the album ‘Fourplay’. (Incidentally, it’s a pretty mediocre effort, except for an outstanding rock ballad called Love You For A Lifetime which should have been a big hit but wasn’t.) ---
