Oops I should have stipulated in the OP that they have to be real band names. Oh well, I guess it doesn’t matter now. Some of these made up ones crack me up. Oedipus & The Motherfuckers is pure genius. ---

I band I formed for a one-off gig was called **Pregnant Space Mice** , which came from a newspaper headline. Rejected names for my current band included **Buzzkilla** and **The Righteous Boogers**. ---

I’m not really a tremendous fan of their music, but I think **Panic! At the Disco** is a great band name. Especially with the exclamation mark. ---

I’ll second the _Dead Kennedys_. At the time they named the band, I would have to assume this name would be pretty shocking. A few years ago there was a local band I saw named _Retards at the Zoo_. I suspect it pays homage to the _Dead Milkmen_ song. ---

Back in the 1970s, I recall a punk band called The Very Idea of Fucking Hitler. I believe they eventually shortened it to Fucking Hitler. ---
