> [@don't ask](#): > > Good choice **An Arky** the only stuff I have by **U2** is the best ofs: 1980-90 and 1990 - 2000. And as my question requires I can’t think of anything extra that I would want. Have you listened to the albums before making this call? _War_ is a “perfect album”, _Joshua Tree_ has a quiet second side but as **Only Mostly Dead** noted, it’s good for atmosphere. _Achtung Baby_ rocks from beginning to end, and after several years, they blew me away again with _All That You Can’t Leave Behind_. I would add that _Rattle and Hum_ is close to perfect, the minuses being the now-dated pontificating in the live version of _Silver and Gold_ (no, not a cover of the song from “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”), and the unnecessary cover of Jimi Hendrix’s cover of Bob Dylan’s _All Along The Watchtower_. On the other hand, the live versions of _Bullet the Blue Sky_ and _I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For_ surpass their studio versions, IMHO. So take what you said back!! NOW!!! _flecks of spittle_😉 I’ll go along with what’s been said about **The Doors** … But now I’m just waiting for some iconoclastic troublemaker to impugn the catalogs of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin… the poet, the physician, the farmer, the scientist, the magician, and the other so-called Gods of our Legends… [Previous page](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/best-best-of-bands-let-me-explain/333046.md?page=1)
