Inspired by [this thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=599370) on '80s cartoon themes — I have been struck quite a bit by how hilarious the theme songs are to a lot of cartoons on Nickelodeon and the Disney Channel.

**Spongebob** has been a long-time favorite. One time I sang it over the PA at Shoe Carnival to get a $5 off coupon!

It always irritates me that my favorite character, Frylock, gets two measly lines in the intro. He’s on top, he’ll rock you like a cop, then it’s Meatwad’s turn.
My husband and I enjoy arguing about the words in the outro. Even though it’s clearly “Dancing is forbidden,” he insists it is “I’ve damp fingerpuppets.”
And with that, I bring you the most brutal of cartoon theme songs:

You’re correct. It’s a line sampled from an episode.

The Simpsons, by Danny Elfman. Yes, it’s an ancient show by now, but still a current first-run network show. One of the classic themes of all time.
Futurama by Christopher Tyng - again, a current show, resurrected by Comedy Central.
The Venture Bros. theme by JG Thirlwell - a very stirring and adventurous piece of music which fits the series well.
The theme from South Park, another classic theme, IMO.

I like Johnny Test’s theme song, but probably mostly because they borrowed heavily from Green Day. Phineas and Ferb is also a good one.
