What’re the best brands of compact flash memory cards? And does anyone have a recommendation for a good set of NIMH batteries with a charger?
SanDisk is pretty popular here. I use the 128mb compact-flash for my A70.
In my opinion, pretty much any set of NiMH rechargeables should do fine.
Last question, I think - good online retailers? I was thinking of just using amazon.com but some other places might have better deals on memory cards and batteries and chargers and such.
I got my Canon A70 from www.butterflyphoto.com . They had a really good deal back in early December, so check them out now. They also sell a lot of packages with camera case, memory card, and NiMH batteries and charger, so you might find everything you’re looking for there.
I bought my A70 a couple of days ago thanks to you guys. The price was listed at $299 at Circuit City, Staples and CompUSA. Amazon.com had it for $248. I printed out the price page from Amazon and went to my local Circuit City. After talking to the sales clerk and telling her that I wanted to buy it I asked her if they price matched. When she answered in the affirmative I pulled out my Amazon page.
She told me that price matching didn’t count for online stores so I started to leave. She called me back and said that she’d ask the manager if it was OK. He sold it to me for the Amazon price! Using the same technique, I saved another $10 on the 256k memory card. It was like getting the memory card for free.

I always take a look at B&H Photo when contemplating a camera purchase. Since I got such a great deal at walmart.com on my camera, there’s no harm in giving them a look-see, too.
