A drink of my own invention: **Death Ray** 1 part Bombay Sapphire 1 part Orange Juice 1 part Mountain Dew It looks like its name: glowing, coruscating yellow. And it tastes like crap, which makes it even more deserving of its name. And furthermore, you can drink it down quick and it hits you hard, winning the trifecta of name appropriateness! ---

[/QUOTE] To clarify, that’s the _Irish Car Bomb_, and you don’t just drink. You drop the shotglass into the pint, then pound down that Guinness as fast as you can. You’ll be fine for a minute or two afterward (assuming you keep it all down), then BOOM it hits you. I’m quite convinced that most of the fun of coming up with a new mixed drink is the honor of naming it. Taste be damned. ---

My mother always said “Purple Jesus” was gin and grape juice (::shudder:🙂 mixed in the bathtub on trips to Daytona Beach when she was a single young woman. At my uncles memorial service, a lady approached me, asked me if I was Momma’s daughter (Mom was already deceased, but the resemblance between us is said to be uncanny by people who knew her long before I was born). She then said “we’ve got to get together - your mother and I used to go with a group of girlfriends to Daytona Beach and have I got some stories for you!” Unfortunately I was never able to hook up with her - I would have loved to hear her rat out Mom. ---

I like the old reliable “Sloe Comfortable Screw Against the Wall,” although that “Throw Me Down and Fuck Me” sounds good, too, but it might have a little too much Grenadine for my taste.
