In FNQ? Not likely.
Indeed not.
Then again I’m in Adelaide. We do sear your eyeballs dry heat. Not sure where the OP is.
Kam’s in FNQ
Ah.
Aircon and fans. (Or maybe dedicated dehumidifier. I’m not really familiar with using them or how well they may work up there.) Otherwise right now looks optimally bad. Not that it will ever get good.
I think this would be more effective than using a ceiling fan, though anything increasing air movement and evaporation would probably help. If humidity is relatively low outdoors, opening windows is a good idea.
Not anymore I’m not. Currently in Gippsland, Victoria, so humidity is not the issue it was when I was in FNQ.
Great news. So with all the advice of the last couple days, how is the carpet drying progressing?
Tomorrow is the designated carpet-day as the temp is predicted to be in the mid 30’s. I’ll come back with results as soon as possible!
Well you will get the weather we had today. 30 plus degrees and 15% relative humidity all day.
That will suck the water away.
Hah. I can’t keep up.
If you have a dehumidifier, or AC, use that, in addition to the fan. The goal is to move as much air as possible, that’s as dry as possible, over the wet rug. Something about the inverse of relative humidity (which must have a name, but i don’t know it.) warm days are good because warm air is capable of holding much more moisture, but if the relative humidity is already high, it may not help.
Is it a southern hemisphere thing or a British colony thing; after all, they don’t drive on the right side of the road; what makes you think their ceiling fans turn the right way?
The best solution is to rent a carpet dryer. I can rent one at the local supermarket, right next to the carpet cleaner machines & accessories, is that a possibility for you kambuckta?
So, I wussed-out doing the actual carpet shampooing myself, instead contacted my fave local handy-person who had previously done some weeding for me. (I think I’m in love with this 20-something Adonis, but anyway…) ![]()
He did an amazing job, the carpets were barely damp when he’d finished. I had the ceiling fan set on it’s highest summer-setting in the loungeroom, and a standing fan at floor level in the bedroom.
The floors are essentially dry 4 hours later.
I’m impressed, and thanks for all the advice folks ![]()
Yaay! Thanks for the update. Glad it all worked out.
Skritches to Jasper.
(not quite a Dacschund, but you get it)
