# Best faucet brands?

We need new faucet assemblies for the bathroom sinks as well as for the tub/shower. We’ll likely get single lever/spout units for the sinks, but keep the old-style three control system (hot-diverter-cold) for the tub.
My sister’s partner told us that her son-in-law the plumber said he thought the two really good brands of faucets were Moen and (I think) Price/Pfister. The salesman at the big fixtures store indicated that Moen was a step behind the fancy-schmancy brands because Moen didn’t use ceramic valves.
For those with knowledge or experience in this area, what brands of faucets would you particularly recommend, and which ones should we avoid?

I installed Delta 15 years ago - the brass finish has corroded off one unit, but the chrome-finished ones are going strong.
I dislike Price/Pfister, don’t know Moen, and, if price was no object, would go with American Standard.
p.s. - I have seen stuff at Home Depot they would have to pay me to take to the dump, 'cause I sure as hell ain’t going to be installing it anywhere.

We’ve replaced several sink fixtures in several houses and condos, and always bought Moen. The price is a bit higher, but the quality was great, never had a problem. I think we kept the old plumbing for the bathtub/shower assembly.
I honestly cannot comment on the ceramic valve issue, but I’ll ask the plumber of the house (my hubby) when he wakes up, to see if it makes a really big difference (to him).

Moen is considered a step up from Price/Pfister and Delta, but I have had all three brands and like 'em all. The Moen cartridges can be a hassle to remove from an older fixture and spraying vinegar inside will dissolve crud nicely (Moen told us that and it worked). Moen also backs up their lifetime warranty wonderfully in my experience.
Above Moen but more affordable than the European ulta-yup brands is Chicago Faucet. Our house came with one installed in the kitchen and the build quality of the components is noticeably better than Moen and the others. Don’t know about ther bathroom line though.

I actually know nothing about the quality of these products, by my aunt works for them, and so I will recommend them to you. They are a Quebec based company, but that’s really all I know about them. The stuff looks nice, at least!

I’ve had two almost identical Moen kitchen faucets that have the pull-out feature. The first one in our old house was purchased from a plumbing supplier and was marvelous. The second that we installed in our second house was purchased from a “big box” store for considerably less money and hasn’t worked well since the day it was installed.
Conclusion: Either Moen has two separate lines of quality depending on the retailer or I just got a dud the second time around.
We have an entire house full of Moen and am happy with them all. The cartridge system beats the ceramic disc system hands down IMO. They seldom fail and when they do, they’re easy to repair.
