After getting fed up with resource-hog AVG 8.0, I’ve been using [Avira.](http://www.free-av.com/en/download/index.html) No complaints so far, it’s unobtrusive and seems to work great. It has gotten high marks for virus detection. The only downside is it displays an advertising message once a day, but there are methods to disable that if you want to worry with it, I didn’t.
