Yeah, I’m not that into most rap, but it’s true that they’re a class act in connecting with the audience. Their whole set had a party atmosphere, and they stuck around after that show too.
Not managed to get to too much this year; Willard Grant Conspiracy, Lambchop, Pere Ubu, Jackie Leven, Bill Nelson, some others I can’t remember right now - but the best is probably The Rezillos! I’ll know after tonight!
I’ve not seen them for years, but they’ve reformed and the shows are apparently as good as they’ve ever been… just hope I don’t get so smashed this time around.
I’m really jealous of some of you, seeing some of my favorite bands this year! The only concerts I made it to in 2004 were:
The Darkness (Hard Rock Live, Orlando, FL)
The Pietasters and Murphy’s Law (Market Street Pub, Gainesville, FL)
Morrissey (Jackie Gleason Theatre for the Performing Arts, Miami Beach, FL)
I Hate You. You’re seeing the Rezillos?!? Tell them to come to the States.
Lets see, this year I have seen:
A Perfect Circle
Medeski Martin and Wood (twice, once in may and their Halloween show)
GWAR
Rush
The Allman Brothers Band
Colonel Claypool’s Bucket of Bernie Brains
Andrew WK (last night actually. Unfortunately it was also with a host of horrid “emo” or “indie” or “scene” or whatever bands)
The best of the year is easily Medeski Martin and Wood. Their shows incredible, full of energy. They are definitely one of the most talented groups out there today.
If I can remember correctly, this year I saw (too lazy to check ticket stubs, so I might miss some):
Metallica w/Godsmack
NOFX
311
Warped Tour, so Flogging Molly, Bad Religion, NOFX, Guttermouth, a bunch of others
Misfits
Flogging Molly (Twice, once at the Ventura Theater, once at the Wiltern)
Velvet Revolver
Bad Religion
Strung Out
The best was probably Flogging Molly in Ventura. Honorable mention to Guttermouth (musically, not very good. Entertaining as all get out though), 311 and Velvet Revolver
