**Gin** - **Bombay Sapphire**. But I usually buy **Gordon’s**. There used to be some incredibly nasty generic struff here in Sweden called **Lemon Gin**. That was truly vile. **Vodka** - **Absolut**. I’m Swedish, what can I say. That’s all I ever buy, if I’m getting vodka. **Rum** - That’s just plain nasty. ---

You can do what my husband cousin does. Buy **Absolut** vodka. Drink it. Save the bottle. Buy Smirnoff. Pour Smirnoff into empty Absolut bottle and impress your guests without going to unnecessary expense. Re-fill as necessary. 🙂 BTW, I’ll second the **Cap’n Morgan Spice Rum** votes for best value for the buck. Don’t know a thing about gin. Sorry. ---

I tried _Lukosowa_ vodka recently in a Russian bar. It was really quite wonderful, but I have never seen it in any liquor store. Anyone else ever hear of it? ---

Had Grey Goose for the first time the other day - quite good. Usually drink Absolut or Stoli, but I may switch over. Maeglin, Fibonacci mentioned Lukosowa (Sp?) above. Why not chat? Do you have his/her number? ::D&R:: ---

stolichnaya? STOLICHNAYA?! let me tell you something about stolichnaya, my friends. last new years, i had a very intimate encounter with the stuff. a few friends of mine brought back a 1.5-liter bottle of the stuff from moscow, and we drank pretty much the whole thing on new year’s eve. all of us agreed that the stuff tasted disgusting and that we would never try it again. a couple of weeks later, getting off the cruise ship in stockholm (cause that’s what we finns do, you know, we go to cruises to sweden to buy cheap tax-free alcohol from the ship and act like complete idiots so swedes will have even more cause to think of finns as uncouth alcoholics), i walked past a gas station when a familiar smell struck my nostrils with all the power of a freight train. “stolichnaya? here? what? why?..” nope. antifreeze. and that, ladies and gentlemen, is when i made the decision only to drink finlandia or absolut. ---

i’m sorry, i seem to refer to “the stuff” excessively in the previous post. i believe it was just a subconscious attempt to escape mentioning the name of the vile liquid. ---

Well, I tried the Grey Goose this weekend. I’m still having some trouble getting my mind around the notion of French vodka, but it was certainly on par with Stoli. I was a little disappointed that 80 proof was all that was available where I bought it, and I very much liked the 100-proof Stoli I had (the label was red with gold trim, does that make it “Stoli Gold”?) Anyway, I expect I’ll probably be buying vodka in the future based on which is cheaper, the Stoli or the Goose. I’m sure as hell not going back to Smirnoff anytime soon. 🙂 ---

Golly. Haven’t we gone through this before? I’ll repeat my comment that all you Sapphire fans must either have way too much money or you don’t drink enough gin. And if you can’t see the humor in waxing poetic over the nuances of a gin, and then admitting you drink it in a G&T… Congrats **tullis** on the mention of Burnett’s. A truly underappreciated gin (in the “for the price” category.) I consider **Booth’s** in the same category. My wife generally has me buy Tanq. which suits me fine. My mom and I used to debate the relative merits of Tanq vs. Beef. Think we have a 1.5 of Seagrams in the cabinet right now - we have had a couple over lately and the swill down G&T in volume. And the 1.5 of bump costs the same as a fifth of Tanq. If you’re stopping by and don’t want to drink it, feel free to bring your own. **Tansu** , where do you buy Plymouth? I’ve had a hankering for that sauce ever since I plowed through all the Travis McGee books earlier this year. Vodka - I dunno. We used to keep a bottle of Stoli in the freezer until I realized it was disappearing way too fast. At the time I preferred it to Absolut. The Citron went down really smooth too. Rum - I dunno. Toss it in the blender with some juice and ice and I’ll meet you out on the deck. ---
