This isn’t as original as some of the others, but I liked it. I got dragged to one of my boyfriend’s family’s friend’s (got it?) Halloween parties, and Eric told me that he was dressing up as a bee. His mom had talked him into wearing a costume from about 6 or 7 years prior, and seeing how he had gained some weight and about 7 or 8 inches in height, it was cute in some sort of pathetic way. He even wore deely-boppers 🙂

Now that I think about it, he should wear the costume again this year - but with a patched overcoat, a ratty baseball cap (with holes cut in it for his antennae), some really grody old tennis shoes, and holding a paper bag with a Coke bottle in it. That way he could be Eric the Halfway Bee. Hrm…

My brother went to a party one year wearing a smoking jacket, carrying a feather, and spoke only in a REALLY BAD French accent. I think he won the prize that night, since he came as a French Tickler.

My favorites have always been related to current events/fads. The top three that I’ve seen:

-Female Tennis Player with knife in back (Monica Seles, the year she was stabbed by a spectator).

-Gray hooded sweatshirt, mirror sunglasses, and curly hair (the Unabomber per the “wanted” posters, before he was caught).

-An ant with a bottle of Bud on his back (after the popular TV commercial campaign).

One year I went as the Whore of Babylon (adorned in purple and scarlet, coffe mug of abominations, wasted of the blood of the saints). I thought it was good, but I don’t know if anybody got it.

Where is this party?! If I’m invited, I’ll rent a beast with seven heads and ten horns.

Last year, I wore a witch hat and full witch makeup, shirt, tie, khakis and dress shoes, and my white lab coat, with my stethoscope around my neck and my eye card and some tongue depressors in my pocket.

I was a Witch Doctor.

I had a great costume, that I still like. Ever seen _Karate Kid_? Well, yes, I went as a shower one year for Hallow’een. Very fun.

The best costume I’ve seen was a dude who dressed up as a “hara krishna at an airport.” He wore pantyhose over his head that made him look bald, except a long braid of hair that came off the top. He wore a black robe and carried around a tamborine. He didn’t say anything, just handed people pamphlets as they passed. The best part was that people kept putting money in the tamborine. Woo-hoo!

My friend, Tracy, had a great outfit one year, too. She got one of those huge pairs of sunglasses that you can get at a novelty store and painted the lens white (with white-out), except for a little round hole in the middle. Then she put on a red-and-white-striped rugby shirt, a red knit hat and VOILA! She was Where’s Waldo?

Well, what are everyone’s plans for this year? I’m thinking of doing Tretiak’s idea (white T-shirt, COSTUME written on it, upc / barcode on the back). I may add to it and put “1 of X” on it, with X being the number of other items (hat, 2 of X, turtleneck, 3 of X, etc.).

So tell us what you’re doing!

I saw a group costume, in which several people formed segments of a caterpillar. They all wore green tights and shoes, rainbow wigs and sunglasses. Their torsos were enclosed in a large green cloth balls, with some sort of stuffing that made it spherical, like the orange pumkin outfits kids wear. They weren’t actually attached but would crowd close together and shuffle in formation. It must have taken a lot of work.

Back in high school senior year a group of about 8 boys each made monk costumes. That whole day, they didn’t say a word, but just shuffled around the school. Most of them were in my class, and we had a math test that day. They went into class and formed a kneeling prayer circle around the teacher while brandishing their crosses at him.

Once a friend of mine went as me. She went around hitting on every girl at the party. I was not amused. Okay, I was.

The only time i’ve ever won a costume contest, i went as a flasher. Big sunglasses, long trenchcoat, and boxers. i kept the coat closed until the judging began then i let it hang loosely open. one by one the judges noticed the surprise.
I stuffed a pair of skin tone nylons full of socks to give me a 15 inch marginally life like unit, and stitched it into a pair of running shorts under my boxers. I attached fishing line to the end of it and strung it up through the pcket so that when i reeled in the line I was standing at attention.
hey it only cost the price of the nylons and it won me dinner for two at a decent restaurant…

Last year I dressed up as Gothic Brittney Spears…I had a white button down shirt, black tube top under it, tall black boots, schoolgirl skirt, pigtails, the whole nine…and then I painted my nails black, wore black lipstick, a LOT of black eyeliner, and wore a spiked dog collar…it was chilly out, but the costume was a hit anyway 😃
