“Top of the world, ma!” _White Heat_ (1949) “Should’ve picked scissors….” _Shaolin Daredevils_ (1979) – Three heroes are trapped in an underground lair with tons of bad guys bent on killing them about to break in. Two can get away only if one stays behind to face the bad guys and meet certain death. The heroes play rock, paper, scissors to determine who stays behind. The loser says goodbye to his friends, turns to face the bad guys and says the line. The end. One of the greatest last lines of any movie ever, imo. ---

Actually watched this with my kids last weekend, and despite the forty year old CGI, it still holds up as a movie quite well- it kept 10 and 13 year old boys interested and entertained throughout. For sheer guts (shared with a crew member if I recall correctly) for a final sacrifice made on nothing but persuasion from another character. “Hands off!” Idris Elba as the ship captain of Prometheus, as it accelerates into the Engineer death ship to destroy it. The line emphasizes that no further choices are possible. Followed by at least three nice ironies. ---
