Beck’s mother is half-Jewish, and he himself has alluded to having Jewish heritage, but yeah, he appears to be a $cientologist. I would think that a significant number of the musicians mentioned in this thread aren’t observant. Have any of them just converted, with no Jewish heritage? ---

Kinky’s band, if anyone’s unaware, used to be called KINKY FRIEDMAN AND THE TEXAS JEWBOYS, and they played some of the greatest Jewish-themed stuff I ever heard, including “They Ain’t Making Jews Like Jesus Anymore.” ---

At least the lead jackass (maybe more of the jackasses) in that mid-'90s abortion we’re all trying to forget (Spin Doctors, not to summon). I remember thinking some Jews were cringing on aesthetic grounds when he loudly self-identified in an interview, I think he/they used to have [not sure what kind of] Jewish prayer ceremonies before shows (it didn’t work!). ---
